Super Sketchy Sunday - Day 153

Don't often play along with sketches but it's a friend's birthday in a couple of weeks and as she spent it in Paris last year I thought I'd remind her of that fact this year!

So here are my two cards for the Super Sketchy Sunday - Day 153 - over at 365 Cards today.

I had a couple of go's at the sketch, the first one in pink and chocolate - tres chic - but was not too happy with the result and then I sort of remade it in green and orange which are a favourite colour combo of hers - hope she likes it!

{and now that I've loaded both photos I'm sort of liking the pink and brown one better now!}

A Rainbow of Circles!

I made this card a wee while ago when I was experimenting with inlaid embossing, it is a great way of using up teeny tiny bits of paper and it was really fun to make.  It's like a rainbow of bubbles, all floating away!

Would love to enter this card into the Creative Corner challenge called "I can see Rainbows" - which basically asked for any interpretation of rainbows, in this case it's not the shape but the colours (even though some are missing from the spectrum)

Well, survived my first week back at work full-time in almost 6 years so rewarded myself with a little crafting time!

There are a couple of challenge blogs that I currently take part in {sporadically..} and one of them had a colour combo as their theme and the other one had the word "liquid" - and am sure they don't mean pour yourself a glass of wine before you get crafty!

So for Creative Corner Challenges it was "brown and pink" which was the easy part, for 365 Card Challenge I decided to use an ink and marble technique that I learnt a few weeks ago at Keryn's - I really liked the effect it produces, great for male cards I feel, but with the right colours it worked well for my sister-in-law's birthday card.

The flower was die-cut with a Tim Holtz Bigz folder {Tattered Florals from memory) and finished simply with a rhinestone as it's centre, and a little butterfly adds a little balance hovering over the greeting.  I really really wanted to add a dash of green but restrained myself just in time LOL!

Orange blossom

I've seen this punched flower on many cards but had never made one until now.  

This card started out with a stamped image I had sitting on my desk, a small bouquet already coloured in orange and green.  I made up the background card with scraps and bits and pieces but then I felt the stamped image just didn't work and that I needed something bolder - and then I thought of making this flower.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.

365 Cards day 311 - Pretty Pairs "Damask + Pink"

And another bird-day card ready for posting off!

This one is for 365 Cards Pretty Pairs challenge which asked for "Damask and Pink".

I must say this is about the only 'damask' patterned paper in the whole of my stash so I was so lucky it was pink too!  I added a wee bird {love those pearls for eyes} plus a couple of die cut leaves, a couple of flowers, a sprinkling of glitter.  I used a retired SU stamp set called Alphabits for the greetings, that way I can make it any language I want - very versatile!  I've often thought of selling this set but I think I will keep it for a while longer, it is a little fiddly to cut and glue all the letters, but I like the slightly crooked effect they usually end up in hehehe... the first time I used the letters I punched them out with a 1/4" circle punch - never again!!

365 Cards day 313: Pretty Pairs "Yellow + Paisley"

Here is my card for the last "Pretty Pairs" challenge over at 365 Cards, lots of yellow plus embossed the background with a paisley folder.

Haven't used my Tilda stamps for ages so thought it was time to dust them off once again - love this one of her dressed up as a dragonfly/bee/fairy etc.  I put lavish amounts of glitter on the wings, she's ready for take-off now!

365 Cards day 312 - Pretty Pairs "Black + Checkerboard"

Bless you Tim Holtz!  I went into a mild panic when I saw the 365 Cards challenge combo of Black + Checkerboard, and after a couple of days of wondering what on earth I'd do I remembered the 'checkerboard' embossing folder I have!!  Horray!

So here is it, checkerboard embossed background, a hint of black in the gingham ribbon (still sitting on my desk as a possible element from the gingham card a couple of days ago...) and went all out flowery and butterflies again!

I think this is the first card where I've used Peach Parfait as a background colour and really like it!  It was an odd piece of card I hard lying around, and now it has found a fitting home.

365 Cards day 310 - Pretty Pairs "Red + Gingham"

Took me a while to sort this pair out!  I sort of got caught up in the thought that I needed red gingham [which I don't have] but of course it can be red gingham or red something and gingham something!

I had lots of fun making this card today, am really pleased I have a whole heap of birthdays coming up in February so by the time this week is over I should be sorted cardwise :>

For the last three cards I've used an off-white card I purchased at a $2 shop, feels really lovely to the touch, is nice and firm and goes with almost anything!  The pad had 12 sheets so that's 24 card bases for $2.50, not bad!

And I love this floral stamp from Stampin' Up! {Nature Walk stamp set}, I inked it up with Riding Hood Red and Old Olive, used a snippet of Cherry Cobbler plus some Certainly Celery - the green gingham was from a pack I got years ago...

365 Cards day 308 - Pretty Pairs "Blue + Polkadots"

Here is my take on the challenge over at 365 Cards this week.  All this week they will be 'pretty-pairing' patterns with colours and the first one is "Blue + Polka Dots".  Of course my first reaction was to use a blue polka dot paper but then I found this scrap of paper on my desk so decided to challenge myself a little further and combine it with blue.  I really like how the Pumpkin Pie butterflies almost fly off the page!

I'll be sending this off to my sister-in-law who has a birthday at the start of February.

365 Cards day 307 - Cherry Cobbler birthday card

I had thought of sending the Teal birthday card to mum but then decided this morning to make her another one, just hoping she doesn't find it too dark!

I suddenly realised last night that I had not sent her a card yet and her birthday is on the 20th of this month, hope the post between here and Chile is super fast this time!

I chose the sparkly butterfly DCWV background paper as she used to love looking through that stack when she visited last year, hope she recognises it!

Another recycled card!

Following on from yesterday's post today I made another card from the other pisco package.

I don't usually work with dark green so went to Color Lab to get a colour combination and it suggested More Mustard and Cherry Cobler and I do like how they go together.

I added some tiny silver brads to the greeting to tie in with the silver on the condor graphic, a bit of sponging in Soft Suede all over plus a bronze buckle I've had for ages and it was pretty much done.

We showed it to one of my sister-in-laws over Skype this morning and she immediately recognized the "Alto del Carmen" so that was good!

Teal birthday

Have been rather busy these last few days but today managed to make this card for the 365 Cards challenge, "Feeling blue-green".

When my mum was visiting she bought a DCWV stack and I got lucky and grabbed a couple off her before she left - lighten the luggage so to speak!

And actually it's her birthday next month so I might just send it to her!  Love that paper with all the glitter on it.

A birthday card

Now I'm getting daring, combining two challenges!  


As per usual I've taken up the challenge across at 365 Cards and followed a "recipe" to make a card.  The "ingredients" were: 5x5 card, 3 patterned Papers, 6 rhinestones or pearls, 1 stamp, 1 sentiment.


I also happened across another challenge at Flutterby Wednesday who were asking for: the color blue (on my paper lace), lace (made of paper), 3 or more flowers (lots on the stamped branch), at least one butterfly.  

Floral Pro-Fusion all the way!

I love a Sizzlets die I have called "Floral Fusion", and today I went all out in a pro-Fusion of blooms!

It is for a colour challenge over at 365 Cards - pink, green, burgandy, brown and blue, hope I didn't miss any out!

Owls in a Gloriously Colourful Tree!

It's a little strange to be making 'autumn' inspired cards when we are just coming into summer here in the Southern Hemisphere, but I do love these fall colours so it was a pleasure to make!

When I was a teenager I couldn't get enough of BLUE - it was my favourite colour for a long time and I couldn't stand the sight of green (probably because it was my mother's favourite colour then hehehe - rebelious teenager!) but nowdays give me red, greens and oranges any day [and browns too] and I'm a very happy girl!

Apparently my great-grandmother adored orange, we have her embroidery floss tin and it is brimming full of so many tones of oranges - maybe that's where I get it from....

So for todays' card I went a bit mad on cutting out leaves - still have some spares on my table - and decided to make a little woodland scene, with a pair of cute owls to top it off.  {The card almost blends in with the background!}

It sort of fits in with a couple of challenges over at 365 cards [ I'm falling behind!] which are Peek-a-boo (one owl peeking out from behind the other one and Festive Fall With a Little Fringe where I feel the leaves have created an interesting fringe above the owls!

What I used:

Card:  snippets of SU Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red,So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive for the leaves, Very Vanilla for the owls and Cajun Craze for the branch - background card unknown.

Stamps:  Lots of Tags [retired], Punch Bunch [retired], Vintage Labels [retired]

I got a bit ahead of myself yesterday LOL

So over at 365 Cards yesterday the theme was 'technology" so I uploaded a card of a rocket - all very well except that today the challenge is "starry skies"!!!  So here is another rocket card LOL - sorry about that!  This one was requested by my 4 year old who wanted a rocket to 'move' and a full moon, and stars...
